Floor Sanding Châteauguay

Floor Sanding

Enjoy meticulous sanding and a finish tailored to your preference.

Are you looking for a floor sanding company serving Châteauguay, La Prairie, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and the surrounding areas? Plancher Tendance Rive-Sud provides services for residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.

We have been providing complete floor restoration services (sanding and finishing) for decades, passed down from father to son. Our extensive experience and the expertise we have developed over the years guarantee you exceptional results that will increase the value of your property.

We can sand hardwood floors and then apply a new varnish, a stain followed by varnish or oil, or simply a layer of oil for a matte, natural finish.

Dust-Free Floor Sanding

Our dust-free floor sanding process uses a belt sander connected to a vacuum, ensuring that other surfaces—and your lungs—are spared from dust. This method is highly appreciated in residential settings as well as commercial and institutional buildings, as it eliminates the need for extensive cleaning of walls and surfaces after the work is done.

After the initial sanding, we use hand sanders to refine the floors before polishing them with buffing machines that smooth the wood and prepare it for the application of varnish or oil. Each plank is sanded and polished following the wood grain with even pressure. Only a thin layer of wood is removed. A hardwood floor can be sanded multiple times throughout its lifespan, so it is important to remove only a minimal amount of the surface during each sanding.

Custom Finish Options

After sanding your hardwood floor, we apply three coats of clear varnish. We use an eco-friendly varnish from Vermeister, a brand for which we have received full training. These fast-drying varnishes are safe for both the environment and your health, containing no solvents and emitting very low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

The Zero Concept varnish line offers excellent resistance to foot traffic, scratches, and impacts. These varnishes are suitable for homes, condos, restaurants, hotels, boutiques, libraries, showrooms, and other high-traffic areas. Available in matte, satin, or semi-gloss finishes, they enhance the natural beauty of the wood while making it water-resistant.

If you appreciate the natural and raw look of oiled floors, we can apply the eco-friendly Fix.Oil floor oil by Vermeister, which truly enhances the wood’s natural patterns. This oil provides deep protection against water infiltration and nourishes the wood with a blend of vegetable oils.

Changing the Color of Your Floor

If you want to change the color of your hardwood or engineered wood floor, our color specialists will offer a wide selection of natural shades that perfectly mimic various wood species.

For a custom color, we can create it using the Chromotherapy color system. It's even possible to design a veiled effect, either more opaque or one that enhances the wood's grain. After applying the stain, we’ll protect your floor with either a varnish or oil, according to your preference.

Sanding and Repairing Floors and Stairs

If we notice that certain high-traffic areas of your floor have boards that are too damaged or stained to be sanded, we will replace them with identical boards. We’ll then varnish them and can even stain them to match the rest of the floor.

Our team can also repair, sand, stain, oil, or varnish wooden stairs, as well as railings, banisters, and moldings. We bring these components to our workshop for precise work. If a spindle is severely damaged or broken, we’ll custom-make a new one that matches the existing design perfectly.

How Many Times Can a Wood Floor Be Sanded?

A hardwood floor can be refinished up to four times over the years. By hiring our professional floor sanding team, you’ll receive careful and precise work that will properly expose the raw wood, allowing it to be re-varnished, oiled, or stained.

Our experienced sanding experts will remove only a thin, uniform layer from the surface, ensuring an even and level finish. We use machines specifically designed for flawless sanding and polishing, and the process is dust-free.

If you have an engineered wood floor, it can be sanded if the top wood layer is at least 4 millimeters thick.
