Engineered wood floors are more affordable than hardwood yet offer the same beautiful look!
Looking for floating floor installation in La Prairie, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Châteauguay, or another nearby town? You’ve made an excellent choice! Engineered wood floating floors mimic the appearance of hardwood at a lower cost, available in planks of 8, 10, or 12 mm thickness, depending on your budget.
There are three types of floors suitable for floating installation: 1 laminate; 2 composite wood flooring (HDF) with a decorative overlay; 3 vinyl/PVC planks that can be clicked or glued; and 4 engineered wood flooring. Before purchasing planks, calculate the area to cover and add an extra 10% to account for any potential breakage.
Laminate, laminated, or engineered wood floating floors can be installed on nearly any surface or subfloor, except carpet. The floating floor installation method is straightforward: the planks click together without being attached to the floor (no nails), though they can also be glued. It’s recommended to store the planks flat in the room, still in their packaging, for at least 48 hours before installation to acclimate to the ambient temperature.
Before installation, we ensure the surface is clean, dry, and level. We remove moldings and lay a polyethylene foam underlay. For concrete surfaces, we use a felt membrane with a vapor barrier. We follow the manufacturer's installation recommendations for your floating floor.
